Okay, you stupid show, I still love you. It's more of a fondness than a big squee, though. Except for the major lulz one scene gave me.
1. I LOLed for nearly a minute at Lana's hideous, hideous wig. Seriously, that was the best. You made us suffer, Lana, and now it's your turn! Wear that wig! It's your just punishment for being the lamest character in the history of TV. I say we should have a scene of exactly this length with Lana in every episode, and in each of these scene she will wear a hideous wig (a different one each time) in another city with bad stock footage.
2. I'm very glad that Chloe survived. People keep saying she needs to die, but for me, Chloe is the emotional centre of the cast these days. AM was the only actor who showed convincing grief for Lana in this ep. I especially didn't buy Clark's grief over Lana, but Chloe really showed that she, for whatever reason, cherished Lana as a person. (And ED's performance of Lois's worry about Chloe kinda sucked. Especially in the assgrabbing scene. But she made up for it by being awesome with Clark at the end.) Also: she can come back from the dead! This means: even if SV kills her in the end, she obviously falls under the comic law of "no one ever stays dead"!
3. MR did crazy!reborn!Lex great, too, but I didn't read it as grief for Lana so much as, well... Lexness. A mixture of grandiose self-importance, self-pity, and fanatic conviction. I choose to believe that his change of heart comes solely out of himself, triggered by ... um, the girl who saved him, and not because of Lana's "death". In any case, I like the acknowledgement that he has done bad things. Except he's still kinda crazy. Also: he saw her fly! Dammit, Lex, she is NOT an angel. Since when are you religious? I found Lex and Bizarro's interaction pretty boring, though, although I'm glad he asked pertinent questions, like where Bizarro was from. And, well, it's sweet that they're finally starting their tradition of: "I'm brain-washed/my own evil twin/from another dimension/having a bad day - let's team up!" complete with sudden and inevitable betrayal. Yay!
4. My favourite Clark moment was his outburst to MM about what his human side meant to him and that he was unwilling to give it up. That was great. I also liked the clever use of heat-vision.
5. So what is up with Lionel? Is he gonna die? If he's dead from water, I'll hate SV forever for being lame. Not that Lionel shouldn't die eventually, but it needs to be violent and full of ironic justice. Or is that just irony?
6. The new opening credits suck. Even the worst fanvid I have ever seen was better. Will Jimmy come back?
7. Bizarro was the major yawn. Where is the point when Bizarro isn't bizarre? Because he totally wasn't. He was evil in a rather unambitious way. Even red!Clark is more bizarre than him. Hell, normal Clark is more bizarre sometimes.
8. The girl who saved Lex (is her name a spoiler or did the promos already give it away?) shouldn't wear makeup, and *should* have been wet after she pulled him out of the river, but otherwise, she looks good for the role. Her first appearance underwater was so over-the-top cheesy that it was perfect Smallville. Oh show. You are so unashamed of yourself.
9. The Martian coat of purple awesomeness must stay. (Srsly, purple coat? WTF! :D)
Overall, the episode was entertaining, but probably mostly because it was fast-paced. I hate it when SV just drags and drags. Unless it was Lana in drag. I think I would like Lana in drag. Especially if she wore a hideous wig and a top hat.

Date: 2007-09-28 04:39 pm (UTC)I liked the scenes with MM, too. Clark needs that supportive, more mature thing, especially with his parents gone.

Date: 2007-09-28 08:01 pm (UTC)Maybe AlMiles have developed a fetish for blondes?

Date: 2007-09-28 08:17 pm (UTC)I was actually wondering at the time, about the blonde wig, if it was some wierd twist on being PC and underplaying/counteracting KK's own Asian background.

Date: 2007-10-01 02:26 am (UTC)Yup, Rei Hino. It´s just that Rei is pronounced pretty much like Ray in spanish, so I guess I spelled it wrong. And Makoto was called Lita here, and Sailor Pluto was Hotaru, that I´m sure of.

Date: 2007-10-01 08:28 am (UTC)Hotaru is Pluto? But isn't she Saturn? She's the quiet little one with the dark hair who makes friends with Chibiusa. And Pluto is the tall one with the somewhat darker skin who seems to be a little older than everyone else... *confused*

Date: 2007-10-01 12:42 pm (UTC)You are right! Oh, I had the impression that there were two, but I got confuse. I can´t remember what Pluto is called, then. She was in such a few chapters...

Date: 2007-10-02 01:24 am (UTC)What were your favorite characters? I have to admit I have a soft spot for Mamoru and Usagi and Mamoru&Usagi. And the generals of Queen Beryl, Malachite and... Oh, I don´t remember. But them =D

Date: 2007-10-04 05:54 pm (UTC)The outer Senshi, Haruka and Michiru in particular. And I liked Hotaru, too, and Usagi herself.

I, too, was disappointed with the opening credits. I have NO idea what they plan to do with Jimmy. Add tension while they're going to resolve the mystery of Chloe's powers, maybe?
You can take Bizarro as a Kryptonian creation with a severe fetish for ripping flesh, or Clark on E. Either way, I suppose it's bizarre for something that came from a supposedly orderly alien culture? ^_^
It was pretty hard to avoid Kara's picture, so I was easily spoiled before I watched the ep. *headesks* Her identity is not a spoiler anymore, but her origins sure are (to me, anyway).
I SO DID NOT SEE THE PURPLE COAT OF AWESOMENESS! *scurries off to rewatch for a bit*
