I started this a few hours after finishing Deathly Hallows. I guess there might be more DH fic coming - sorry SV fandom! I will not abandon you permanently, its just that Potter ate my brain.

So where are good Potterfic communities?

Characters: Snape, Ginny, Luna, Neville, McGonagall, Prof. Sprout
Warning: This is set during the time of the seventh book! Deathly Hallows spoilers abound.
Length: 5907 words
Summary:

There is no doubt that Severus Snape is evil. )

Dammit. After studying another four hours this morning, I finally caved and bought the damn book. I was kinda vibrating with excitement the whole way to the bookstore and back.

And now I'll read.

OMG.

Seeing as I won't buy the HP book until next THURSDAY, (or, if I cave early, Monday), I should be avoiding the internet at all cost. Seeing as I am addicted hopelessly to the internet, I can't. Willpower: - 3. Please, please, please cut-tag *everything*. I'm pretty gullible, so I get a small shock each time someone posts mock-spoilers.

Speaking of spoilers: I'm reading the entire run of Sandman for the first time, and I've reached "The Kindly Ones" and I think I'm spoiled and I hate it.

Otherwise, though, I love Sandman. I like nearly all of Neil Gaiman's works, but this is definitely one of the best. I also love how you can see the "American Gods" 'verse in embryonic form in the series. Also, I think it's fascinating that of all the Endless, I only find Despair frightening. Death, Delirium, Destruction and Dream are by far too charming, (and in the later story arcs, I've had to laugh every time Dream appeared. He's just so ridiculously, self-importantly emo. He's like this silly and weird relative you can't help but like) and Desire and Destiny aren't that impressive, but Despair? Brr.

I should be studying, but it's so hot and humid here that my brain is mush. I'm going to buy an energy drink now. Or ten, for the next couple of days.

Me: Hmm, look at that nice "Space AU" prompt. I guess I'll write a drabble...
Drabble: Whee! 14 000 + words! Kneel before the Space AU!
Studies: Um, hi, exam time?

Okay, to be fair, I've studied more for English in the last two weeks than I've ever done for English in my life - unless you count fanning in English. But that's only because I never *had* to study much for English before. Translation kicks my ass mightily and Linguistics is... rather a lot to learn. Writing I (which in fact is Grammar/Paragraphing) has gotten a lot better, but while I'm confident that I'll pass all three exams, I'm afraid I won't be passing with my usual good grades *sigh*

Also, I applied for a job as private tutor at a school for students who want/need to improve their grades. I
Me: Well, I can do English up to highschool graduation and German up to tenth grade!
Employer: Oh, I looked at your grades and they're all so good! Don't you want to teach Latin and French as well?
Me: Um... no? I haven't seen a Latin sentence in, like, five years?
Employer: Oh, it'll be fine. I'm sure you can do it.

I kind of hope I don't get the job. It's not like I really need it that badly... *afraid of Latin&French*

Lastly, the most random result in a meme ever (put the quiz was pretty):

Find out your Harry Potter personality at LiquidGeneration!

Exam time is coming up for me, and I've realized that I won't be getting the seventh HP book until July 27, which is the day after my last exam, because otherwise - too much distraction! I'm starting to feel exited about the book, too. I'm not entirely sure how good I expect it to be - all HP books are absolutely great to read, at least the first time round, but HBP was somewhat less enjoyable than the rest, at least parts of it. (I never got fully into the story, I think; instead I stayed at a somewhat meta perspective.) And it's the final book of the Harry Potter series, for Christ's sake. JKR could write complete rubbish, and everyone would still buy it.

I've barely written anything at all in the last couple of days and I guess writing will be slow for the next three weeks because I *should* be studying. And then it's time to get back in touch with SV canon. I haven't watched any SV since "Phantom" aired.

Post a list of your top five favourite fics you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the best things you've written, but what you love most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

No one tagged me, but I wanna do this one. I tag everyone who's written five fics, hasn't been tagged and wants to do this meme :)

1. Devil's Deal , Smallville/DCU, long
This is still very recent, but I think that it might be the best fic I've written so far. It has passages where I let myself write as beautifully as I could and it has a simple but well-working plot, I like the characterization and I like the ending. It's a fic I'd love to read if someone else had written it.

2. I Am Here, Lord of the Flies, long
Yes, I wrote Lord of the Flies slash. This fic will always have a special place in my heart. It was the first fic I got a lot of feedback (at ff.net) for, and the first that was actually good. It was also my first long fic in English, and I can honestly say that writing this unlocked the English language for me. Summary: The children were never rescued and still live on the island four years after the plane crash. Ralph has gone mad during the hunt and is living as Jack's slave, while Jack struggles with growing up and being a good leader.

3. Foolish Man, Angel Sanctuary (Manga), short
Angel Sanctuary, as the title tells you, is a manga about angels. This fic could just as well be read as Religion fic, though, or original fic. It's about Lucifer, after he has defeated God. This is also a special story for me, because it's the only one my Mom has ever read - she found it while secretly looking at stuff on my PC and I was furious, because I was so embarrassed - but she loved it. She actually read it out loud in the kitchen to my Dad, even though they're divorced and his English is abysmal. The reason why this is so important: my Mom is a literary snob. She thinks TV shows are trash, manga are trash, Harry Potter is trash - but she liked this one. (God, I sound like I have horrible issues, don't I?)

4. In Essence Divided Harry Potter, novel-length
This is the first story where I had a good beta and the first that I didn't write as a ff.net teeny bopper (I had graduated to mugglenetfanfiction.com *lol*). It's the longest I've ever written, too. Oh, and I love this Tom Riddle :D

5. Protection, SV, long
Yeah, I love my long stories more than my short ones. It's about the amount of work that goes into them. I wrote this after a long spell of writer's block and depression and it was fun and fandom liked it :)

2. and 3. are unbetaed, and my English wasn't as good then, and it shows. Also, they're at the evil place - fanfiction.net :D

Writing that little HP ficlet a few days ago reminded me of something I'd been wanting to do for some time: archive my muggle.com fanfiction pieces here in my LJ. (This doesn't mean anyone has to read it, of course!! I just want to have it here, in case someone goes through my memories and might be interested, because I hate it when authors I like don't have their stuff archived in one central place.)

This is my second longest Harry Potter fic, (14 chapters), which was supposed to be a crackfic - and then turned extremely serious, without me knowing how to get out of the corner I had written myself into. I wanted to give it all up, and then mugglenet made it a featured story and well... I had to go on. (God was I ever ridiculously pround of myself back then - still am a little). In the first chapters, the English may occasionally be wonky, because I didn't have a beta reader, but I did acquire one later on. Also, this fic proves that I should never ever write snarky Brits -___-
I wanted to make this slash, but it resisted me until the bitter end. Remus and Snape... can sort of stand each other at the end. A little bit.

Title: River Styx
Fandom: Harry Potter
Rating: R for violence
Spoilers: written before HPB, in 2005
Characters: Remus Lupin, Severus Snape, Regulus Black, Minerva McGonagall
Summary: Framed for crimes they haven't committed, Lupin and Snape end up sharing a cell in Azkaban. They must get out before the full moon. Meanwhile, Dumbledore is apparently dead and Regulus Black is very much alive, having returned from living in hiding to be a Professor at Hogwarts... (gen, 40769 words)

Oops, post got too long! Well, then I'll just link to it and hope that mugglenet never explodes...

So, yesterday when I said, play with me? I didn't factor that I'm almost incapable of writing short fic. First I wrote a little HP snippet for [livejournal.com profile] satora_chan which I like quite a bit.

Sirius/Remus, pretending to be gay, teen )

Then there's the second one, for [livejournal.com profile] jakrar who wanted:

Clark goes into heat, but -- perhaps because Clark touched Lex just after Lex was altered by the first meteor shower, causing a bonding of some type -- no one but Lex can sexually satisfy him. (Clark tries, but everyone else leaves him cold and aching, just as Lana did during their lukewarm sexual encounters, prior to Clark breaking it off and salving his conscience by telling himself it was for Lana's safety.)

So, yeah. This is NC-17, and 4107 words long and... probably the least original fic I've ever written. (It was hard, there are already so many good Clark-in-heat fics out there). Set somewhere in S6, Clark/Lex with a Clark/Ollie scene on top.

Marked )

Expect the rest of the prompt fics sometime in the future...
