Since I'm bored and still not able to do anything productive, I'm going to spam you all with comic scans to take on the herculean task of explaining Infinite Crisis, with a shameless focus on Lex. On two Lexes, actually, because there are two of them in IC.

Therefore, scans from "Crisis of Conscience", "Infinite Crisis", "Villains United" and "Infinite Crisis Secret Files". Spoilers, of course.

And lucky for us, Villains United Lex is actually hot:

Once upon a time, there was the multiverse. The multiverse was a pretty cool thing that Detective Comics (DC) had going on, because it allowed them to tell lots of AU stories without making them "imaginary tales" - they could simply let them happen on Earth-2 or Earth-44 or whatever.

But then it all got too complicated and they decided to get rid of the multiverse. This was accomplished by the "Crisis on Infinite Earths".

Basically, there was an evil guy who wanted to smush all the parallel universes together. Lots of stuff happened, and Superman and Co. just barely managed to save their own Earth while all the other Earths stopped existing.

Problem: four people not from the main continuity Earth remained with no place to go. Those were Superman (Kal-L) from the Golden Age, his Lois Lane, Superboy Prime(Clark Kent) from Earth-Prime, and Alexander Luthor.

Alexander Luthor isn't Lex, he's the son of Lex and Lois from Earth-whatever, where the JLA are villains and Lex is the only hero. This is him:

Yes, he wears gold. With a red afro. But he's not too blame, he was rocketed into space by his parents to save him from their universe's destruction. We all know that leads to bad fashion sense. Also, Alex Luthor has got cool dimensional superpowers for some reason. *shrugs*

In the lower right corner of the above scan you see Kal-L, Lois and Superboy Prime walking into a portal created by Alex Luthor into a "paradisical dimension" where they'll spend the rest of their lives after Crisis on Infinite Earths. However, paradisical apparently means "lots of reality TV" to Alex, because all there is to do in their new home is watching the one remaining universe after the Crisis.

Soon, Alex and Superboy Prime become good friends. Very good friends. Even though Superboy still moons after his world's Lana, a girl called Laurie.

He gives Alex the puppy-dog eyes so Alex will find a way for them to go back to the real world:

Of course the puppy-dog eyes work on Alex. He devises a plan. Much of this plan involves manipulating Kal-L into wanting to go back to the remaining Earth. How does he do that? Well, he shows Kal-L how much this Earth sucks. For example, this Justice League had mindwiped a lot of villains and their Batman.

Oh, and they mindwiped Catwoman into dating Batman, too, but at this point Cat and Bat don't know that yet.

Eventually they find out, though. Also, Wonder Woman kills a guy on TV and Batman builds an evil spy satellite to take out the JLA - just in case they should go evil.

Then he insults Superman and they break up:

In conclusion: Earth's heroes suck so much that Kal-L is convinced to go along with Alex's and Clark's plan to reverse the Crisis and recreate their own, much nicer universes. To accomplish this, Superboy Prime must punch a wall. However, he had performance problems:

But when Alex undresses for him, he finds his strength and punches the wall. Yay!

Once they have left their pocket dimension, the next step in their plan is for Alex to replace the real Lex Luthor, who, at this point, is still President. It helps that Lex conveniently has a bit of a psychotic break and has to go undercover after running amok in his power suit.

Alex shaves his head, gets a fashion sense and pretends to be Lex.

Much like Grodd in JLU, he builds a society of supervillains to protect them from the mean heroes who want to mindwipe them.

Everyone is totally glad to join this cool new society except for some losers like Catman.

Catman and five other villains are gathered up by a mysterious person codenamed Mockingbird who only ever appears on a screen:

Who is Mockingbird? Why, the real Lex, of course. He forces the six villains to call themselves the Secret Six. They fight the society a lot, because Lex is not happy that Alex has taken his place:

Meanwhile, Superboy Prime shows up on the Kent Farm. He's nice to the Kents until Kon (remember: Superman's and Lex's clone baby) shows up. The two Superboys start to fight, and since S. Prime is a little unhinged he gets real violent. Kon is beaten up badly.

Luckily, Lex is there for him. (Sadly, this is the only time Lex ever does anything nice for Kon in the comics.)

Alex and Superboy Prime, meanwhile, build this big fancy tower in the Arctic that is going to re-create the multiverse and their own homeworlds. (It might just as well destroy it, but they don't really care.) Yes, they both have kind of a God-complex.

They nearly suceed in their plan. Just in time, the healed Kon and Nightwing show up at the tower to destroy it. They fight Superboy Prime. Kon destroys the tower and saves the world, but he's so badly wounded in the fight that he dies in Wonder Girl's arms a few moments later.

Superboy Prime goes on a rampage through the galaxy. Superman shows up to beat him up, and the Flashes stall him for a while. Eventually, the Green Lanterns manage to lock him into a prison inside a red sun. There, he shows us that he is a big Smallville fan:

Alex tries to go undercover, but it doesn't work for long. Lex hunts him down with the help of the Joker (who's mad at him for not being invited into the Society of Supervillains). They kill him.

All in all, a pretty sad story. I mean, Alex and Superboy Prime didn't want anything evil! They just wanted to go home. And Kon died :( Actually, the only redeeming thing about "Infinite Crisis" is Villains United, which was hot and fun.

Why all the effort to show you guys this? Well, there's this upcoming Elseworlds part...
