Mysterious GIP

Something very odd has happened. I suddenly have an icon that isn't mine. This icon used to be a Lex icon that said "anger management". In my icons list it's still saved under that name - except it is now a new one I have never seen before. I like mysterious!icon, but where did it come from?!

that happened to me a while ago, and several of my friends said it had happened to them. it's a glitch in the lj storage process, apparently. i deleted the icons in question and will eventually re-add them. sure feels weird to see some unknown icon in your lineup, though!

I kinda like it ;) It looks like it could be me or my mom with her hair dyed red. I wonder where the picture was taken - looks like some kind of steppe or tundra with rocks in it.

Okay, that's very odd. Despite refreshing I still see woman on a rock instead of Lex.

I'm seeing Lex now, so it must be working now. I've heard of that happening to a few people recently, but hasn't happened to me yet. *knocks on wood, saves icons anyway*

Well, I guess if you guys see the proper icon, then it'll go away eventually. Because I still see the wrong icon.

I guess it's to do with what servers everyone's on. The picture b0rkage might just be on one particular server (the one you're on) and other servers remember the proper icon settings, so maybe it's that.

Clear your browser's cache and refresh again, that usually does the trick...or go directly to the icon's location - http://p-userpic.livejournal.com/66574006/2764318 - and refresh over the cache (on Firefox that's ctrl+F5, don't know about IE...)

Nope. Mysterious!pic remains there even when I use ctrl+F5 on the icon's location (I'm using Firefox). I don't mind, though.

It happened to me too - you have to clear your computer cache. The icon usually shows up fine on other people's computers, but for some reason on your computer, it doesn't. Clearing your cache should fix it. (It popped up again briefly soon after I did, but I cleared the cache again and it was fine.)

It's something stupid with LJ.

^ happened to this icon too, but at least the new pics aren't offensive (Are there cases with nasty substitutes?)
From my personal experience cleaning the cache sometimes helps and sometimes not.
