The Interview meme, questions by [livejournal.com profile] ion_bond. Comment and you can get five question from me!

1. American Gods or Neverwhere? Why?
American Gods, because, seriously, Gods! I love religious and mythological themes in fiction. One thing about this book I'll never forget is the crucifiction scene (or whatever the correct term is for the thing where Shadow is tied to the tree in emulation of Odin.)
2. On whom do you want to write an ethnography?
Hard question. I'm not enough of an expert to name any specific people, and then there's the problem that most ethnographies of the traditional subjects of Ethnology have already been written. I'd love to travel in time and write one on a society that is extinct, to observe the daily life of a culture that is gone and that we have no details of, for example one of the first tribes of humans in Africa.
3. What is your favorite article of clothing and the story behind it?
I'm not very attached to clothing. The only time I ever had T-Shirt I was really attached to was when I was still in elementary school. It was a gift from my mother (at the time I was living with my father) and it was black, with a batik pattern. One day it was just gone. I always suspected my grandma of throwing it away...
4. Do you go to demos? Do people usually chant? I went to a Mayday rally and the organizers kept trying to get us to yell “Viva, viva, la Revolution!” and the crowd would do it like twice, and then it would die out. What I’m getting at is -- is this normal in Germany?
I've been to a number of demos, but I don't go regularly. My father used to drag me to Mayday demos each year when I was little. Usually I go whenever one of my more politically active friends asks me to go to one and I think it makes sense (for example against the war in Irak or against Neo Nazis). It's normal in Germany that people chant, but except for the Anti-War demos I've been to, it rarely works properly. (I'm more for painting posters anyway.)
5. Rec me some fanfic!
Oh, that's hard. What fandoms do we share except X-Men (which is small and you probably know most of the stuff I know...)? HP, I think, and Buffy. I've hardly read HP since HBP came out.. in fact the only fandoms I've been reading recently are Smallville and House and I don't know whether you read those.

In from the Cold by Beth This is a longish post HBP HP story by [livejournal.com profile] bethbethbeth with the odd pairing of Snape/Kingsley Shacklebolt, but it works and I remember I liked quite a bit at the time.

Okay, I suck at recs, I admit it. I just don't remember all the good stuff I've read.

it rarely works properly.

It seems Americans are better at making noise. (Who would ever have thought?)

Oh man, I am so excited about that pairing! Thanks for the rec!
