Okay, so I did not actually read this, but listened to it in the audio version read by James Marsters. Who reads fabulously, except that the places where Butcher devolves into soft porn that would make any fanfic writer proud are somewhat embarassing to listen to. Grave Peril is the book where the Dresden Series really picked up for me: I liked the supporting cast the most in this, and love interest Susan finally got something to do. Also, I hope we're going to see Thomas the sexy vampire again :D

19. Victory of Eagles by Naomi Novik
A new Temeraire book came out and there wasn't a single post about it on my flist until last week. Fail! This book is awesome. I loved that Temeraire got a lot of independent "screen time" and things to do, that the dragon rights thing moved forward, and the war storyline was well-done as well. Also brilliant was Laurence's High Angst of Noble Angstiness, complete with standing on stormy balconies and weeping and growing angsty facial hair and doing bad things as atonement. Also, yay for Tharkay being a semi-regular and Jane Roland rocking muchly.
