Defriending

I've just defriended someone for the first time since I got an LJ.
I'm not happy about this. Defriending is unpleasant. It sounds unpleasant, and it feels unpleasant. But on the other hand, it's more honest than filtering. And since I started, I'll probably defriend more people. Hopefully, no one will be hurt or terribly insulted. In most cases, I assume that the disinterest is mutual if I only ever post about Time Lords and you only ever post about CW shows and we never had much in common to start with. (Which doesn't mean I'm only interested in posts about fandoms I'm in. There are people on my flist who hardly ever post about fandom, but reading about their lives has made me care, even if I'm just a silent, lurkerish audience. It might be that you think I'm bored, when actually, you're my daily friendslist soap opera.)
Also, if you've secretly wanted to defriend me for a long time - this is your chance! (Well, it's always your chance, but now I have less right to complain than before *g*)
