bagheera_sanGod, I love uni. This semester is going to be pretty cool, I think :)
Now, discuss those SV spoilers with me, please! I'm not perfectly up to date with them, but I'm willing to be utterly and completely spoiled (spoilered?)!
1. Someone is going to die, and it's going to be Clark, Lex, Chloe or Lana, or possibly someone played by their actors (like an evil twin, or bizarro Clark or whatever). It's going to be a "fan-favourite", which tells us nothing, because all four are fan-favourites - just for different kinds of fans.
Who do I want it to be? Lana, of course.
Who would be worst? I can't decide between Lex and Chloe. I mean, if Lex died, I could live in the knowledge that he's going to come back and won't be subject to further character assassination until then. (They're comics characters for me, they always come back.) But I might lose my interest in SV watching if Lex died, and I don't wanna lose it! Chloe would just be horrible, she's huge part of why this show is sometimes *fun*.
Who do I think is most likely to die?
Depends on whether the death is permanent. If it is permanent, then obviously, Clark is not a possibility.
Lana
The logical choice would be Lana, imho. Reasons:
1) There's nowhere to go for her. The show can't end with Clana happily ever after. Lana solo serves no purpose. Lexana isn't going to last forever, and it's going nowhere. She's not gonna have that baby after all. Lana has never and will never have any other role than "love interest". And whose love interest would she be other than Clark's or Lex's?
2)The resurgence of the Clana this season. Why make that choice? Well, AlMiles are Clana shippers, I guess, but they must know it has no future. But if Lana were indeed to die, then I could see that they wanted to give her a kinder, nobler send-off: not as Lex's evil consort, but as a tragic, self-sacrificing figure loyal to Clark. This way, everyone would be satisfied: the Clana-haters have her gone, and the Clana-lovers get a last bit of romance. They'll forever be able to say, "But if Lana hadn't died, they would have lived happily ever after and Clark would never have chosen Lois." Only the Lexana fans get no love, of course. (Unless Lex genuinely mourns her death. Yeah, that way, everyone would get what they want. Except the fanboys who only want to see KK in a bikini.)
3) Lana and death-imagery. 'nuff said. It would be fitting for her to die on the show.
How could Lana die?
Either tragically or heroically (self-sacrifice), of course. Although I could see Lana comitting suicide (she is in an extremely depressing and horrible situation: forced to marry someone she doesn't love, failed pregnancy, no life/dreams of her own) that's not gonna happen.
Since she knows Clark's secret, it might well be the cause of her death (Reckoning, duh). Most probably, either Lionel or Lex are going to be involved.
There's a faint possibility that Clark (who is rumoured to go evil/red/bizarro again in the finale) could cause her death. Although that isn't something I can see AlMiles doing and it would just be... weird. And sort of redundant, because Clark has enough guilt already.
Chances that she'd "ressurrect" in 7x01?
Pretty high, alas.
Chloe
Most people think it's going to be her. I'm not so sure.
Why would they kill Chloe off?
She's not useless, she's one of their most important plot devices as Clark's information source/partner in crime. Lois isn't ready to replace her yet. And I don't think Allison Mack wants to leave the show as badly as TW or MB maybe do. And what would they do with Jimmy without Chloe? Have him date Lois? Oh, please. Lois would eat Jimmy for breakfast.
On the other hand, they will eventually have to deal with the Chloe-Lois problem. Chloe is essentially Lois, or rather, she is comics!Lana (because SV did something very odd at the beginning, they took the Lana character and separated it into two entities: A is a pretty girl named Lana Lang, B is a spunky highschool reporter suspecting Clark of being "Superboy" = Chloe Sullivan. This is one of the reasons Lana is so deeply uninteresting: she's only a name and a role, her character traits were used elsewhere.) Sooner or later, Chloe is going to have to step down from the Lois spot. They could just have her move to another city, or discover her mutant powers and make that her carreer. She could join the League in some way. Or she could die.
How could Chloe die?
a) because of being a mutant. I'll hate SV if they do that. It's just stupid. She might go crazy, they've strongly hinted at that, but come on, show. There *is* such a thing as free will, even if your two lead male characters don't have the option of choosing their destiny.
b) because of Clark's secret. Either she'd die protecting it, or she could, somehow, give it away accidentally. This would be a pretty horrible reason for Chloe to die, as it essentially condemns the character.
c)Lex or Lionel could be responsible for it. Chloe knows way too much to be safe.
d) Her mutant power is to be a zombie ;D
e)None of these. She just dies tragically, and that sets off Clark's evilness in the finale.
Chances that she'd ressurrect?
Low. They've already done that once, even SV can't be *that* repetetive... or maybe they can. *sigh*
Lex
Most people think it's impossible, but I don't. MB wants out. Lex is practically at the end of his character arc. There's gonna be a Clark-and-Lex ep named "Nemesis", so, technically, Lex has already reached his status of Superman's nemesis, even though there's no Superman yet.
But still. They're not honestly going to kill Lex Luthor. If Lex dies, it's going to be a "no body" death for sure. Also, would they really kill Lex before they kill Lionel? Come on!
How could Lex die?
a)Most likely through his own actions, in some ironic twist, in a way that makes it seem he deserves death. If they go that route, I'll be disappointed. It's stale. Possible causes: Level 33.1, alien research...
b)The most horribly wrong way for Lex to die would be at Clark's hands. No matter if it's bizarro/red!Clark - Superman. Does. Not. Kill. Yeah, he has killed on SV before, but those were all minor characters. Clark killing Lex? Is just wrong on the meta-level.
c)Kryptonite. It's traditionally what (almost) kills Lex.
d)...heroically. Wouldn't that be a twist? Or make it ambiguous, even better. And make Clark *realize* that it's an ambiguous death.
e) Terrorist JLA. I mean, freeing Bart from a LuthorCorp lab? Okay. Blowing up buildings as a permanent strategy? Not okay. Look, I sympathize with certain underground movements. Spraying, ad-busting, squatting, Castor-transport stopping - it's all okay with me. But blowing up buildings? Sooner or later, someone is going to get killed. Unless you live in some kind of horrible dictatorship, it's just not worth the risk. (And those are superpowered guys with a billionaire leader. Don't tell me they don't have other options than what they're currently doing.)
Chances that he'd ressurect?
Low, on the show. They've done the "does Lex die" once before, in S2. But as I said, it's gonna be a no body death. Or else Lex is going to be coma boy :D
Clark
Obviously, there's no S7 without Clark, and they can't kill Superman before he becomes Superman. But they could kill Clark and have him ressurrect - that's a proud tradition, after all.
How?
a) Lionel develops magical powers he inherited from his "scottish ancestors".
b) Lana "forgets" to tell him about their suicide pact. She dies, he cries and kisses her and quickly expires from the kryptonite on her lips.
c) Chloe finally develops her meteor powers. It turns her into a huge monster. She calls herself "Doomsday". Next season: Clark comes back blue!
Ressurection?
Come on. Clark is Jesus.
