Lana has always had this morbid connection to death - her parents, hanging out at the cemetery, dating a technically dead guy (Adam), being turned into a vampire, actually dying in Recknoning, seeking out the dead in "Void"... and she does have a back history of her boyfriends dying, too. It's like she's always been with one foot in the land of the dead and with the other in the land of the living - and now she's got the clothes and attitude to match.
