I'm not some ungrateful wretch who doesn't post about their [livejournal.com profile] yuletide gift, or lost in the land of holidays where there is no interent - until this morning, I simply didn't have a yuletide gift apart from my lovely Madness treat. I'm not sure what happened, but it got sorted out, and now I do have an excellent gift! Flist, I think you might enjoy this, too :D

Lex Talionis
This is an A Study In Emerald (Neil Gaiman's Sherlock Holmes / Cthulhu fusion) story, but it's also a crossover with one of my other fandoms, and one of my all time favourite characters. It has steampunk, sharks, lasers, Great Old Ones, murder, assassination, revolution, geniuses, possibly superheroes and lovely subtle subtext between Holmes and Watson. Apparently I have a kink for people washing the blood off their best friend's hands, who knew. It's completely self-indulgent, or it would be, if I had written it myself - this way, it's wonderfully hand-tailored to my needs by an anon who clearly did their homework and then some.

The Whitechapel Case
Another A Study in Emerald story, this time a drabble by someone who understands the purpose and art of writing a drabble. In fact, this is very much in the style of my favourite drabble writer.

I don't think both anons are the same person, so: Rock on, both of you :D I'm looking forward to the reveal.

Other stories I've enjoyed so far:
-that The Kingmaker (Big Finish) story everyone is reccing: it is exactly that excellent
- all the Hark! A Vagrant stories but particularly this one for it's lolsome litcrit talk and the squid and Pirate Captain and his Nemesis
- This American Gods fic, because it has Loki throwing a wake for Thor and being clever and heartbroken and loyal and it's basically one epic Loki/Thor manifesto
- This Gallifrey fic because it has both excellent, unrequieted Brax/Romana and Narvin/Romana, which is a ship I knew I'd find interesting (seeing as I have a massive kink for loyalty, treachery AND frenemies)
