Books I've read in 2008
Apr. 23rd, 2008 04:43 pm1. The Time-Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger
2. Gregorius by Hartman v. Aue
3. The Princess Bride by William Goldman
4. The History of the World in 10 1/2 Chapters by Julian Barnes
5. The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud
6. Flaubert's Parrot by Julian Barnes
7. Der Verdacht by F. Dürrenmatt
8. Doktor Faustus by Thomas Mann
9. Arthur & George by Julian Barnes
10. Storm Front by Jim Butcher
I haven't yet read any bad books this year, but only because I quit reading "Nightwatch" by Terry Prattchet. Julian Barnes's books are good, although not quite wonderful. The same goes for "Storm Front" - I'll try and get my hands on the rest of the Dresden Files books, and Jim Butcher writes *awesome* action scenes, but I'm not quite in love with the book. At the moment I'm reading "England, England" by J. Barnes and and Kipling's "Kim" (one of my absolute favourite books from childhood - I didn't choose my screenname after the Disney movie, but I might like Kim even better than the Jungle Book. I also like the "English Shop" or whatever it's called where I bought it because it has cheap English classics and lots of English food. I already discovered that I don't like Jelly Babies *g*).
