Help, f-list
Mar. 21st, 2007 07:36 pmI've got an question for a fic:
What is the usual procedure (in the US) when a minor's parents are murdered and they have no other living relatives that would take the child in?
What, for example, would have happened to Bruce Wayne after his parents were shot? First he was probably questioned by the police, and there was some psychological care provided. And then? Where would he have stayed until legal matters had been settled? There's foster care and group homes and orphanages, but I imagine it takes some time until a kid can be sent there. What would happen immediately after the crime? (And would it be different for a teenager, than, say, for an eight-year-old?)Google doesn't help at all, because all I get are articles about parents who murdered their children or children who murdered their parents. *sighs*
ETA: okay, I think I have enough info to go on now. Thanks!
