I don't even want to think about the amount of fanfic I have read in the last year. Anyways, since you can only read so much of the same stuff and I don't really find a lot of new stuff in old fandoms I have ventured into some fandoms I never read before.

A lucky finding was X-Files. I used to watch the show religiously before I watched Buffy (it's been at least five years ago) but my canon knowledge has become kinda blurred and I've never read XF fanfic, but that doesn't really matter, because Mulder/Krycek is a pairing after my taste. Spies, treason, violence - yay. And there's a lot of fic with plot!

One thing I'm starting to notice though: there are at least as many Kryceks in fanfictions as there are... Snapes. I've read several good stories by good authors with consistent and believable characterisation which could be of totally different characters who only share the name and plot. I wonder if this is something that's always happening to traitor characters whose motives aren't clear? Probably.

Another fandom I have discovered recently in German TV is Smallville. It's a bit too much with the teenies and the uninteresting female characters (what's with all these Lanes and Langs?) and Clark is so young (five years younger than me, it's so strange) but Clark/Lex makes for an interesting dynamic and Lex is just cool. Because it's superheroes and villains and ex-friends and all that it kinda reminds me of Xavier/Magneto, except that it lacks the political angle. Lex Luthor doesn't work for me the way Erik does, because his motives for the evil he does aren't as understandable. Even so, the premise of friends become enemies is still cool.

And through some odd twist of fate, the first Smallville episode I caught had Peter Wingfield in it. I was very happy. :-)))

I've also watched a few Battlestar Galactica episodes on German TV (I'm spoiled on watching shows in the original, I can't stand synchronisations anymore!). The look of the show doesn't appeal to me and neither do most characters, but it's interesting. Predictably, the one character that fascinates me is Gaius Baltar (especially when Six gets rouch with him - rawr). And for once, this is a show where I find the female actors really hot.

Season one of TNG is rerunning on TV as well - sheesh, so much stupid and bad hair. Television has come a far way since the early nineties. Best (crackiest) episode ever though: The Law of the Edo, aka the Enterprise visits planet Softporno. :DD

And last but not least, Queer as Folk US is on German TV. OMG, it's neither Sci-Fi nor Fantasy, but it's still interesting - of course it is, it's gay porn with plot. (And I'm lucky, I can appreciate both the lesbian and the gay.) I don't like Justin, Brian looks like Angel (hair!!), especially when he's wearing the leather jacket, but he's way cooler and I'm sadly more interested in Brian/Micheal than in Brian/Justin. Unrequieted love is another kink.

I do however still have some semblance of real life. Last night I spent being 'criminal' and putting up political posters with some partners in crime (silly action, not taken entirely serious, but fun). We almost ran into the police a couple of times - I have a weird idea of fun.

Anyways, I'm not depressed anymore.
