I LOVED THIS EPISODE SO MUCH. The last three left me pretty meh, but this one... oh YES. Even if for about four fifths of it I asked myself: "... is this a Star Trek crossover, or what?" But if it had been, it would have been of the awesome kind.
So, the Dream Lord. Awesome villain. I love Q (come on, this guy pretty much was Q. Skipping around and putting on silly costumes and making faces and being a naughty trickster. Oh, and putting our heroes into a deadly dilemma as a test. Not very original, but in this case I don't mind AT ALL) and I love the Valeyard ("The only man in the universe who hates me that much" left me stumped for so long, but duh! And the Valeyard in the Matrix did the skipping around thing too, and the putting on costumes.), and I love Doctor angst, so he was just three great things rolled up in one. I didn't realize that he was the Doctor until right before the reveal because I was too distracted by the episode being good and tense and whatnot. And then there wassex dream pollen.
So, when *does* the Doctor become the Valeyard? When Eleven regenerates or when Twelve regenerates? In any case, the Doctor was definitely thinking of him in those last moments.
As of this episode, too, I'm feeling Eleven. He was definitely his own guy here, and not at all tennish.
