I'm making a doomed last-ditch effort to complete the challenge...
Title: Crush
Rating: all ages
Characters: Ainley!Master, the Rani (set immediately after "Mark of the Rani", with spoilers for "Invasion of the Dinosaurs" and "Sea Devils")
Summary: The Master is a little bit obsessed.
"Are you sure it will work?"
"I assure you, it's tried and proven. The Doctor once shot down a fully grown tyrannosaurus with a stun gun just like this."
"Oh, well, if the Doctor did it!" The Rani rolled her eyes, which the Master couldn't see because he was still aiming at the rapidly growing dinosaur. "Do you believe everything he says?" she went on. "He's always been an even worse braggart than you are, and yet you keep falling for even the most outrageous lies."
The Master smiled at her with an ominous, threatening glint in his eyes. "I'm not sure what effects the gun would have on a Time Lord brain, my dear."
She glared at him. "You can save the endearments for him."
He went back to taking aim with a shrug. "And I wouldn't be so foolish as to trust the Doctor's word. It's all in his Matrix records, there for anyone who knows how to break into the archives. Of course, you were almost more interested in the softer sciences."
"Whereas you probably couldn't tell a mitochondrion from a grain of starch."
The Master didn't deign her with a reply. He was radiating haughtiness, and probably this required all his concentration, because he kept on missing the tyrannosaurus. The Rani smirked.
"So that's what you do in your spare time - read up any of the Doctor's misadventures that you might have missed?"
"One should always stay informed about one's enemies."
She had expect furious denials, not this matter of fact confirmation. He was fully serious about this, the Rani noticed, and not in the least bit embarrassed. With dawning horror she realized that she would spend every minute they remained trapped in prehistoric times listening to the Master rave about his sick crush on the Doctor.
"Maybe we should try sound waves," the Master mused. "The Doctor and I once encountered an amphibic species on Earth that was quite sensitive to a certain frequency… "
Death by dinosaur was starting to sound appealing. The Rani watched him miss the Tyrannosaurus again and wished there was a way to cure the Master. But she suspected that the Master was the kind of diseased creature that was kept alive only by the fever of his illness. Through her disdain for his weakness, she felt a sliver of pity, but it lasted only a second before she sneered at her own sentimentality.
"Shut up and give me that, you fool," the Rani said and wrestled the stun gun from the Master's hands.
Title: Passing the Time
Rating: teen
Pairing: Three/Delgado!Master
Summary: set before "The Three Doctors".
"Hiding in a cupboard like schoolboys!" the Master grouses. "This is entirely your fault."
It is dark, and the train constantly rattles around them. A broom clatters when the Doctor tries to shift sideways, but with the noise the people who are looking for them are making and the huffing and whistling of the steam engine, it hardly makes a difference. There might be just enough space to keep several inches of air between the Master's back and his front, but the Doctor stays close. He can feel the shorter man tremble with indignation. On an impulse, he puts an arm around him in what might be a restraining grip if there were any chance of escape. The Master grows suddenly still.
"Doctor?" he sounds startled.
"Now, let's have a chat," the Doctor whispers into his ear. "That's what you brought me here for, isn't it? It can't be your sorry excuse for a scheme. Sabotaging the first journey of the Orient Express – really!"
The Master's voice is tight, his mouth obviously dry. "I don't think I quite follow you."
"Hm, let's see." The Doctor pretends to think. "I assume you were bored, or otherwise frustrated. You kidnapped me without any clear idea what should happen next."
Continuing this is only possible with some plausible deniability. It would be too big and too sudden a change in their relationship if the Doctor admitted that he enjoys the little respite from 20th century earth, and the Master confessed that he's doing this simply to enjoy the Doctor's company for a few days. They need their ulterior motives. But the temptation of making the Master squirm a bit is too great. Too often it's the Master who dictates the rules, using the Doctor's exile to prod and tease him like a caged tiger.
The Doctor lets his hands roam, and the Master's breathing becomes more erratic the lower he lets himself explore. The Master tries to clear his throat, but it sounds more like a gasp.
"Doctor, if you want to spare both of us a great deal of ... embarrassment -"
"We should be quiet, yes," the Doctor murmurs. It's the Master, so he can be just a little cruel. His touches are slow and light, too light to have any real effect, teasing and grazing, only hinting at the possibility of more.
"Why?" the Master breathes, angry and desperate.
He smiles, the corner of his mouth brushing the Master's neck. "Just passing the time while we're hiding."
