Have begun watching Game of Thrones and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner because yes, it is awesome. Maybe if people had said "baby wolves!" I would have watched it sooner.

I've only watched the first three episodes so far, but these are

- Baby wolves! Who grow up to be tame dire wolves.
- Horses! God, I want to ride again.
- Tyrion! Please be fandoms favourite character. I doubt he is (it's probably someone utterly dull like Jon Snow or that pretty brother who rules Winterfell in Ned's absence) but OMG. He reads books! He slaps bratty little brothers! He seems to be morally ambiguous yet awesome AND funny. Also, I hope at least one Tyrion/Peter Baelish fic exists. (Unless there are canonical reasons against that that I don't know yet.) If anyone ever films the Vorkosigan saga, Tyrion's actor MUST play Miles Vorkosigan (even though I'm not sure if Miles is quite that short. But who cares, this guy is PERFECT for the role.)
- Because, Baelish! With his brothel and his unrequieted love for that awesome lady whose name I'm not quite sure of... Caithlin? Names are so difficult in this show. And his moustache, maybe, I'm not sure about that yet. But mostly I love intrigue and most especially people who enjoy their intrigue so much.
- Blonde princess is also quickly growing on me, now that she has lesbian UST (probably not unresolved, I'm pretty sure she and slave girl had sex of some kind) and will probably get a dragon soon. Her brother is a) an elf of some sort and b) an evil little bitch. I hope fandom loves to put him in noncon situations a lot. Both their names escape me. Also, hey, Drogo is Ronon from SGA.
- What a lot of sex and incest this show has. I'm not sure I really want all those explicit incest and rape scenes, to be honest. More lesbian sex and/or more sex with people who are consenting and not related to each other would be great.
- The Lannisters are the evilest people on... this world. THEY KILLED A PET WOLF. Throwing Bran out of a window and killing kings is nothing compared to that. Even bitch brother is not this evil, although he might be related to them (I'm not actually sure what is going on with blonde sister and brother, except that they're exiled for some reason).
- Bran is a pretty cute kid. Yeah. I hope there will be more Bran and Tyrion interaction. Edit: Hm. Still not sure Tyrion did send the assassin... I guess we'll see in ep 5!
- Arya would be my wish fulfilment fantasy if I were ten. Sword-fighting! Oh yes.
- Pretty Sister (Sansa?) and Bratty Prince (Geoffrey?) are HORRIBLE as only teenagers can be, it's so perfect.
- I love the plot because damn, that is about the most challenging stuff to follow since, idk, Gallifrey S1-3.

Off to watch episode 4! Edit: Well... that was an unexpected ending!

YAY YOU ARE WATCHING GAME OF THRONES! Fandom actually adores Tyrion, for the record, or at least LJ fandom does. And then their favourites start shifting as the books go on, I love almost everyone in the series. Even Viserys (Khaleesi Daenerys's awful bitch of a brother) and all the terrible Lannisters.

But mostly I am gleeful that you are watching, because I love it so.

Edit: In fact, [livejournal.com profile] game_thrones, which always has lovely and wonderful discussions, did a poll for favourite characters, and Tyrion topped it, with Arya and Daenerys taking second. So there you go: GOT Fandom knows where it's at. (Except with it's Sansa hate. Haters to the left, Sansa is my girl. Actually, there's apparently a fair amount of sexism in the old guard of fandom at westeros.org but I'm only aware of LJ fandom and so I am freed of this sort of thing.)

Yay, fandom! I am now at episode 6, and yes, if people did not love Tyrion, I would despair a little of fandom, but they do! Good to hear, because eventually, I want to read ALL the Tyrion fic. At least the good stuff.

And thank you for linking the LJ com, because I shall check it out as soon as I'm done with S1 and need no longer fear spoilers.

I'm always amused by Viserys (so that's his name!) but at the same time I enjoy it when terrible things happen to him. And good for Daenerys taking second in that poll, she is shaping up to be quite cool.

Edit: Oh, hm, now I feel a bit bad for wanting horrible things to happen to Viserys. That was a little too horrible.

I thought you'd be saying that by the end of the episode. It's very hard to be so horrible that you deserve the fates GRRM throws at his characters. The comm is pretty good about spoilers; the mod encourages people to warn for book spoilers in comments in discussions, so things stay pretty neat. (You have to be careful, still, but.)

SADLY I have not found much Tyrion fic. This is partially because GRRM discourages book!fic (though he's fine with show!fic), but mostly I think because I haven't found the good places for fic.

I cannot believe how little fic there seems to be. This is terrible. Although I can see how Game of Thrones isn't the easiest fandom to write in, at least if you haven't read the books yet (like me) and don't know what is going to happen. But still, people, surely random PWPs could happen?

There's also GRRM's dislike of fanfic for the books? I'm not sure if you've seen it yet, because I only found out one step removed, but GRRM essentially asks that fanfic not be written for the books, though he's okay with it being written for the TV Series. Obviously that doesn't stop some people, but it does mean that ASOIAF has only had the past twelve weeks to write fic openly, which does somewhat explain a dearth.

I've seen that, but it doesn't really make sense to me - surely large parts of fandom are new to the series, and perfectly fine with writing show!fic?

Twelve weeks are aeons in kinkmeme time, usually, but even that seems to languish sadly in this fandom. Although [livejournal.com profile] hbo_gotfiction appears to be a bit more alive.

I've been told that Martin kills off a lot of characters, so I'm trying desperately not to get too attached to any one. But it's so hard not to! :(
