Woah. Stuff happened. Action took place. People were kickass. Everyone looked pretty. The story made sense. There was continuity. Storylines that had been dangling for seasons were resolved.

This is one of those episodes that make you sigh and think, "That's what Smallville *could* be as a show."

I just wonder what's going to be the season finale after this.

Sometimes, when you talk about Smallville like it being good is exceptional, it sounds a lot like this other show I know. What was it's name again? Flashlight Tinder? Something like that...

LOL No, it's not quite the same. When Smallville is bad, it's way, way, worse. Or maybe I just haven't seen the REALLY bad Torchwood eps yet. Or it could be that SV is insidious - it somehow makes you emotionally involved, and then it just hurts. Like a really cute puppy who keeps peeing on your favourite rug, or a really unreliable boyfriend.

Ha, I love that description. I remember that feeling from x-files fandom as a wee fen child. Except X-files was the boyfriend who went insane and left you to become a Scientologist/for Lucy Lawless, released bees into your house and burned out a Moorley cigarette on your couch on the way out the door, and none of it made ANY sense.

And they when you asked why he mumbled something about an overarching conspiracy...

LMAO, yeah, I can relate to that. I watched X-Files too, but I couldn't tell you what happened there at the end.

Funnily, the Good Smallville Episode that prompted this squee was all about THE BIG CONSPIRACY behind Smallville. Seriously. There was even a secret society!
