nightclub, the full report
May. 6th, 2007 12:36 pmLast night was my first time at a nightclub (as wikipedia tells me, this is the correct English term, rather than disco). Unexpectedly, I had lots of fun!
My ears still hurt, and my throat is slightly sore and of course I'm tired since I only got home in the morning, but I *love* dancing. A real dancefloor with strobe lights and a smoke machine and a DJ (and blastingly loud electronic music) is something way cool. The club was in an old warehouse in Mannheim, which is a larger city than Heidelberg, and most people were dressed in black (or latex and similar stuff, very interesting to look at and at least I wore a black jeans and my converse) since most of the people were Goths or "dark", but I didn't feel out of place and although Noise and Electronica really *is* horrible noise, it's great for dancing. And I've always loved Depeche Mode, so, yay.
I didn't drink anything but water and coke on the rocks (hee) and no one offered me drugs (not that I would have accepted, but I was still curious if people would be doing drugs, but as far as I could tell no one did, not even in the very dirty toilets. Hardly anyone even smoked.)
I'm glad that I waited with this experience a couple of years, though. As a teenager, I wouldn't have enjoyed it, but now I'm self-consident enough to just go out on the dancefloor and have fun. I don't think I'll be doing it every week, but I'll definitely do it again.
