Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Three/Delgado!Master, some hints at Three/Jo

Length: 18389 words.
Summary: The Doctor, Jo and the Master fight the Daleks. Eventually.

Part Two

Er, sorry. I fell asleep before posting part two.

When you give me prompts, sometimes you get a measly drabble, and sometimes you get a clunky epic. 18000 words isn't an epic yet... but it isn't short fic either.

It took a while, but here it is! My second offering at Who fic. All praise goes to [livejournal.com profile] x_los because she gave me the prompt to write a Frontier in Space coda and betaed the ensuing monster! I apologize for the title, but it's better than "That Frontier in Space thing" or "frontierfic.doc"

That fic which was actually supposed to be a short, slashy episode tag to "Frontier in Space" has now turned into a plotty (for certain definitions of plotty... I'm not sure bastardizing the plot of "Planet of the Daleks" counts), not terribly exiting gen piece of 13000 + words - but at least it's getting written. And there's lots of touching and psychic hi-jinks, so it counts as subtexty. However, the fic consists of 90% dialogue. Jo, Three and the Master are talky people. (The rest is them getting locked up. And arrested. And kidnapped. And locked up.)

My RPG meetup tried out the Star Trek RPG for the first time this week. It could be pretty fun, but we spent about five hours creating our characters, so by the time we started actually playing, we were all a bit tired. Nevertheless, true to Trek, we immediately got into ethical arguments while fighting those Breen. (Should we set our phasers to stun? Should we set them to stun even if we're firing at a spaceship? Are holograms people? Do holograms have feelings? Do people have feelings? Is it ethical to hope that there'll be Breen bodies left over to learn more about their biology?) I played a modified EMH.

[livejournal.com profile] lukita asked for : The Tenth Doctor meets Lex

This is Smallville's fault, for being the show with the most clones ever. We will ignore the fact that "The Sound of Drums" would totally have happened differently in the SV/DC 'verse, because, you know, Superman vs. Toclafane. (Wow, imagine that fight!)

This would have spoilers for "The Sound of Drums/The Last of the Time Lords" except you'd have to have seen the episodes to get it. And knowing the Rani probably helps.

100 words, G-rated.
Summary: Lex meets the last sons and daughter of Gallifrey.

One day the soon-to-be Prime Minister of Britain walked into Lex's office and cheerfully proclaimed him his species' foremost cloning expert. In hindsight (at least there was no amnesia), the "species" part should have clued Lex in.

Then a brilliant homicidal British lady with glasses arrived. After the inevitable affair, she laughed derisively at his proposal, slipped a ring off her finger and dragged him to the lab, where they encountered a blue box and a skinny ranting Englishman who hugged the reborn Prime Minister and the lady.

Lex was already on strategic retreat when they started threatening each other.

Why is there no War Chief fic? Come on, universe!

I just watched the final episode of the Second Doctor's run, "The War Games", which is brilliant. (I'm watching Classic Doctor Who wildly out of order.) The Second Doctor had much better Cybermen episodes, too (I don't like the Cybermen episodes in the New series, but then, I don't like most of S2.) and the best male companion ever. (Yes, I like Jamie better than Jack. Captain Jack is fun, but I don't really *get* the character.)

Anyways, the War Games. There is no way in which the War Chief is not a proto-Master, or at least his long lost also-evil twin. (And if the War Chief isn't the Master... wow, did anyone of the Doctor's generation not turn renegade?) And he's even quite a pretty one, and would be terribly slashable with the Doctor... if Two were slashable. Sorry, but... no. But I'm not even asking for War Chief/Two! Just *any* fic about the War Chief. *sigh*

Ooh, I saw the new trailer for Doctor Who S4!

spoilers for the new and the old trailer behind the cut )

I also watched Tomb of the Cybermen, which is *infinitely* better than the New Cybermen episodes in S2. I think Jamie is rising very quickly in the ranks of my favourite companions, and Victoria isn't bad either.

Random fact: commenters on YouTube are a new and degenerate species of human being: the level of stupidity and incoherence is *astounding*. Classic Who episodes are one of the few places were coherent comments can be found.

I haven't posted in a while! Been studying and consuming massive amounts of Doctor Who, mostly. I also saw the first episode of Torchwood, and "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang". Torchwood is *odd*. It's rubbish, and terribly unoriginal, and yet it is entertaining. And why in the world does fandom love Ianto?! Owen, now that I could understand.

I also watched some New Who S1/2. I like Ten, I like Jack, I like Nine, I like Mickey. I like Jackie Tyler and Pete Tyler. But Rose is still meh.

Thoughts on Classic Who, various companions, Daleks vs Cybermen and the latter half of the twentieth century )

I've been completely sucked in by Doctor Who, which is strange, because I've previously made two attempts to get into New Who and it never worked - perhaps because I adore Classic Who even more, or perhaps because S1/2 bore me, or because Rose and I clearly aren't meant to be. A couple of random things:

1) Rose/Doctor is annoying to no end. It's like Clana, only in SV fandom no one actually seems to ship Clana, whereas half of New Who fandom is completely fanatic about Rose in a meant-to-be, forever, accept no substitutes way.

2) Why does everybody hate the TV Movie? It's not that bad! Actually, it even had some damn fine moments (in a clunky, hilarious, woo-hoo we're so artistic and working with metaphors way).

3) It's very British. And, hey, British is cool! I think you can't get much more American than SV and DC comics, so this is a big change. (Also, I no longer have difficulties understanding most British accents!)

4) Classic Who is often AWFUL in terms of PCness (and you notice these things after doing Cultural Studies about Classic Star Trek - also, the topics are so different. Cold War doesn't seem to have excited the British very much.)However, this doesn't bother me much.

5) Time travel + Me + writing = recipe for disaster. I have plotted out this epic fic and it is DOOM.

6) David Tennant is hot. And cute. And scary. I love most past Doctors (even Six doesn't suck entirely) but I don't really want an Eleven. But S2 still bores me because of Rose.

7) The Master. I love him, unconditionally, in all incarnations. Yes, in all of them. Even TVM!Master made me laugh. Simm!Master makes me miss the gentleman-villain aspect, but on the other hand his subtext with the Doctor is lovely, and I guess after 13 regenerations of evil, decaying into rotting flesh, stealing a body, burning alive, turning into a Cheetah person, being killed by the Daleks, turning into a gooey snake thingy, stealing another body, being eaten by the TARDIS, being ressurected and then wiping your own memory, becoming somewhat less well-mannered and more INSANE is unavoidable even sans drums. I can't wait to see what they're going to do next with him.

But I really, really shouldn't even try and write that fic.
